I am Martin Solozano. Most of the time I draw whatever pops into my head which is mostly anything that is either dynamic or deeper in thought or emotion. Someday I hope to make a comic or be able to create artwork for a video game combining those two main aspects of my work. Most of the time I end up drawing the former because when drawing anything deep in thought there are significantly more aspects to think about. I think about things like symbolism, and representations through color schemes, and with all that it’s harder to form the image in my head. Even though this applies to most of my drawings, where it is rather difficult to get a clear image, at least the dynamic drawings are looser, and easier to get away with errors. When drawing something with a deeper meaning I pay much more attention to the anatomy and proportions of the human body than the dynamic poses. It’s somewhat hard for me to slow down my thoughts at times. In the comic creating space, everything I mentioned above is even more prominent because good art doesn’t make a good comic on its own. A good story is still necessary and creating the story is the slowest (and the most boring) part of the process because it’s necessary to make things make sense and pace the story well. Towards that end, I try to write several scenarios when writing a story, especially using the Japanese (KI SHO TEN KETSU) method.
